जीवन की रीति / The Way of Life

ज़मीन पर गिरे
सूखे पत्तों को देख
एक पल के लिए
ठिठक जाता हूँ,
जो कभी चिलचिलाती धूप में
छांव देते थे सबको
मैं धीरे-धीरे आगे बढ़ जाता हूँ
उन्हें कुचलते हुए औरों की तरह
यही है शायद जीवन की रीति…

I get stuck
for a moment
looking at the dry leaves
fallen on the ground,
that once provided shades
in the scorching sun…
I slowly step on and move on
by crushing them, like others
this is probably the way of life…
