It doesn’t cost much to be happy,
but it costs a lot to show
how happy we are,
by wearing new, branded
and designer shoes or clothes,
by doing face lifting etc
just to get noticed by others…
But considering it as happiness
is a fallacy,
it only matters to those
who don’t look within
or don’t try to…
We may keep the ladder
to go inside open,
but the needless show-off
stands like a wall,
and only the bitter smoke of truth
remains even after parting
at a turn…
If there is no one to congratulate,
even success seems insipid,
and even failure looks beautiful,
when someone stands by us,
our bodies are built
in such a way that we can
neither pat ourselves on the back,
nor hug ourselves,
nor cry on our shoulder…
A lot depends on
how much sweetness we add
to the relationships
with our words and deeds…
It’s easy to make ourselves
both rich and happy,
not by minting money,
but by cultivating
true and lasting relationships…
