I keep hearing that sound
of the approaching footsteps
in the desire to wait for you,
many steps pass
but my eyes keep waiting for one,
my gaze remains fixed
on that familiar sound…
I keep smiling from within
at my desire to wait for you
that never subsides,
hopes are shattered many times,
but I embrace them again
whenever I stumble,
hoping for one more hope,
amidst sounds from within
to readjust the life,
from the past to the present,
to a creativity of acceptance,
to face the mimicking faces
of the stark reality…
Expectations from others
always hurt, that I know,
but my naughty, haughty heart
remains lost waiting
for those twinkling tinkles…
I don’t know
whether you are mine or not,
but I like to call you mine,
consider you mine,
sometimes a sweet lie is good,
gives comforts to my soul,
and I wait for that,
tinkling sound is that one…

Hoping against hope is a powerful force in the heart. Really beautifully illustrated. The word “tinkling” adds an almost joyous tone to what Could otherwise be a sad tale. Great writing!!

Thank you, Kaushal, for the beautiful and moving love poem, especially since you write about the tinkling of anklets. I wrote once that I would love to wear them as I have very slim ankles, and if I did, perhaps someone would write a poem for me.
How lucky is your muse to inspire such talent and devotion!
I love the picture!

PS. Apologies for being so late but I didn’t have internet until very late.

Oh yes, Joanna, I would be one to write a poem. I have seen even little girls wearing anklets that come in different sizes. Anyway you liked the poem, that thrilled me. Thank you so much.
No worry, Joanna, you may reflect, whenever it’s convenient to you.

This poem displays more self awareness than the normal lovesick Swain seems to display. Love the self deprecating humor.
