पर दिन की धूप का सितम ही सही,
आस है वही दीन मेहनतकश का..

One can enjoy the luxury
of the evenings of Awadh
and the soothing mornings
of Banaras..
but it is the scorching heat
of the daylight
that gives hopes
to the poor labour class..

PS– Banaras or Kashi is today’s Varanasi, while Awadh is the northeastern part of Uttar Pradesh constituting mainly Lucknow and Ayodhya.
