A Promise is A Promise

I still sit on benches
for hours together
lost in those memories
as if you’re peeking from
somewhere behind a flower
in the Hanging Garden…

The supine feelings
that flourished at Marine Drive
looking for some meaning
by swaying our feet in the waves
still beckon you…

Marine Drive is still crowded,
but the queen is not there,
its necklace missing
the waves of tiredness
taking over the tenderness…

The Taj and Gateway stand tall
with the same grandeur
but missing their regular onlookers,
the sun also sets at Worli seaface
with the same glitter,
but the thrill of rising spirits gone…

The time and space change frequently
so do we to move on
forgetfulness is an art
selective amnesia in particular
a riddle remains unsolved but
so necessary for life
to keep it going…

A million thoughts run through
the mind in a million ways
but get lost before reaching
any logical conclusions,
no point now in hiding behind
the transparency of own conscience…

I wanna forget too all that
in the hurly burly of new life
that promises something
I may or may not long for,
but a promise I had made
has to be kept,
the only dilemma is
when and how…

    1. Thank you, Suzette for your appreciation that means a lot to me. BTW, the Hanging Garden referred to by me is in Mumbai. All the three pics are from this city only.🙏💐💖
