The Parallel Journey

Life’s journey unfolds like a canvas wide,

In youth, beauty shines, a radiant bride…

Looks are the currency that buys the day,

A fleeting allure that slowly fades away…

.

Like autumn leaves, beauty fades from view,

Thoughts, like wisdom, rise strong and true…

Maturity’s seasons bring depth and might,

A garden blooming, where love takes flight…

.

But then arrives time, like a gentle stream,

When walking together fulfills life’s dream…

Like two riverbanks, side by side we stand,

We stand as one, hand in the loving hand…

.

Or like parallel rails on a never-ending ride,

Together we journey, forever, side by side….

Though paths don’t cross, but always in view,

A lifelong companionship, steady and true…

.

Like the sea’s horizon, our love meets fate,

A union of souls, an endless, infinite state…

Through life’s winding paths, we find our way,

As we have to stay together, come what may…

.

  1. Thank you, Kaushal, for the moving, heart-rending love poem about the togetherness in life and beyond! Age, youth, or beauty does not matter as it is the unity of heart and soul. I love your poignant image of going together into the sunset!

    1. Very well said, Joanna, it’s the union of hearts that matters, irrespective of the age and situations we are in. Glad you liked the image too. Thank you so much, Joanna!

  2. Excellent verse, KK. Those of us who have been in a happy and healthy relationship for a long time can relate to this on so many levels. Love changes and grows as we change and grow. It is nurtured, treated well, given the respect it deserves over the years. Even though young glowing skin may be replaced with wrinkles, we do not see the changes. They don’t matter. Love is all that matters. Without it, we have nothing. ♡

    1. Very well said, Nancy! Thank you very much! Love and companionship matter a lot. You have reflected what I, and possibly many, believe in. After fifty or sixty years, a couple often starts looking like siblings. I don’t know the scientific reason, but being with someone for a long time may have something to do with converging thoughts and actions.
