In the Middle East’s heart, two lakes reside,
The Dead Sea and Galilee, set worlds aside…
Both fed by the Jordan, their stories unfold,
But in their essence, different tales are told…
.
The Dead Sea clings, holding fast and tight,
A barren stretch where no life takes flight…
With no outlet to give, it keeps all it takes,
Evaporation too leaves it barren, dry flakes…
.
The Sea of Galilee, by contrast, flows,
Receiving, giving, where life below grows…
It channels its waters, lets currents pass,
In its depths, fish dance, and plants amass…
.
In this tale of two lakes, a lesson we find,
In sharing, abundance, in hoarding, confined…
We receive so much from life’s river of grace,
But if held, it evaporates, leaving no trace…
.
So let’s be the lake where life does thrive,
Giving what we receive, keeping joy alive…
For in sharing, we truly live, vibrant and free,
Like the flowing waters of the Sea of Galilee…
.

How much I would enjoy visiting with you, drinking tea and biscuits with chocolate or cakes in delicate plates with silver cake forks and teaspoons so we could share what the Divine has shown us and we could check. Did you see the same picture, were the trees really in that spot ? 💕

Thank you so much! I think that will be a great experience. Your description is so fascinating. As regards trees, I’m not sure, as the images have been taken from pinterest

No, the trees as a metaphor for our understanding the Divine from different perspectives. Will we see the same “tree”. 😊

Good point — one living and one dead body of water. One yeilds food and the other is being more-or-less mined for minerals.

Lovely imagery, I have never seen those lakes, but because of Bible stories I have always had a wonderful image in my mind of the Sea of Galilee, a lake that’s called a sea, a lake abundant with fish.

You’re right, the Sea of Galilee is full of abundance of life. More than 20 types of fish are found there. And yes, the two lakes have religious significance too. Thank you for your time to read and comment!

I was in Israel in 2019 and was shocked to see the loss of the Dead Sea. I loved being on the Jordan and Sea of Galilee. To think that Jesus was in those waters.

As you have already visited Israel, I can’t add anything more. You have seen it from your own eyes. And yes, it has religious significance too, as you said. Thank you so much, Mary!
