A Matter of Perspective

Zoom it

You may look like a millionaire to some,

To others, you’re a pauper in disguise…

In one hand, your wealth is a treasure,

In another, it may barely meet the eyes…

.

Ants and bees might see you as grand,

While big trees won’t notice your stand…

You may feel like a small fish in the river,

Yet to others, you’re a whale in the island…

.

You might tower above your own sphere,

Yet fade to nothing in other communities…

While you feel overwhelmed by troubles,

Others see you afloat in a sea of opportunities…

.

You might excel in your cherished craft,

But to some, you’re just a beginner…

Your voice, a sweet melody to some ears,

To others, it’s a noise with no manner…

.

Your battles, trivial to some they seem,

But to others, they’re a mountain steep…

To one, you may be a guiding star so bright,

Yet to another, just a shadow lost in sleep…

.

Comparison steals your joy away,

Breeding bitterness, a vicious snare…

So stay kind, love the life you live,

And live the life of the dreams you care…

.

Focus on your journey, special for you,

Not one where you don’t have a say…

Compete only with the self you were,

And grow stronger each passing day…

.

    1. You’re right, Suzette, the root cause of our stress and distress is comparison, comparing with those who are in better position. Thank you for your kind words!
