New Year Wish

Today a new calendar
has replaced the old one,
a lot of other things
have also undergone changes,
much water has flown
under several bridges…

Some things were easily available
even without asking,
and some remained a puzzle
despite millions of attempts…

Some wishes remained confined
within the secret folds of heart,
and some had to be changed
under compulsions…

Some people
both known and unknown
joined me in the journey,
some got tired,
and some left in the middle
leaving behind
their fragrant memories…

Some people kept waiting for me
while I kept waiting for some,
some got it right,
and some got it wrong…

But today,
a new shoot has sprung up
on the tree of time
to blossom and flourish,
with a new hope,
excitement and enthusiasm…

Today from the womb of infinity,
riding on the chariot of golden rays,
a little propitious sun has risen,
with a new hope and light…

Like this young sprout and new sun,
may you also be brighter, healthier and more prosperous this year,
let our love,
affection and association
continue to blossom and flourish,
and speak like a perfume as ever…

This is my wish
on the first day of the new year,
for this year
and the years ahead…
