When I close my eyes
or lights are put off
I see darkness
crawling in all around
undefined, yet dismissive
looking a bit ominous,
but within a few minutes,
I start seeing
some images and caricatures
both known and unknown
moving and still,
due to some doubts and fears
or just imagination,
one ends and another begins,
taking turns
and even stops momentarily,
but destroys nothing,
I never feel blank
or a complete black out…

I feel some feelings
both inner and outer,
the inner ones know the true feel
and the outer may be just a facade,
yearning for praises and platitudes,
that makes me melancholic,
I look inwardly
in that darkness
to find out my soul
at the distant end of the tumnel,
but well within me
well within my reach…
Darkness is never a curse
but its consistency is…

Thank you, Kaushal, for the fascinating view of what the mind imagines when our eyes are closed and we see things in the darkness. Your poetic gift takes over and you propel us into the magic land.
Thank you for the atmospheric pictures.

Yes, Joanna, our mind remains busy even during sleep. Sometimes I find meditation a bit difficult. But I’m glad you liked the poem. Thank you so much!

Well expressed, KK.
After closing my eyes, I too go through similar process of mind.
While dreaming, I imagine, my close ones are dying, they’re in pain; usually battling with their opponent humans (enemies).
Whatever event happened or is going to happen, between 3-4 days, becomes part of my dreams.
Here, I play my role in resolving the issues, normalising the events.
Then I try to picturise mother nature (the earth). We humans treat her badly, still she allows us, playing, living and progressing in her lap (god).
She’s the simplest woman. Always caring and showing her love towards us.

Thank you, Lokesh, for sharing your true and beautiful reflections. It happens in fact with most of us. As regards mother nature, I think there is a limit to everything. When an infant starts biting, even the mother stops feeding.
