I tend to trust until proven otherwise but was hurt a few times but don’t wish to live suspecting “treason” every time someone is kind to me.
Once bitten, twice shy. How often this happens in life. Hopefully being hurt by one person does not turn us off to making friends and forming new bonds.
Makes me think of the Anthony Weldon quote from The Court and Character of King James 1651; fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
Message, don’t lose trust in everyone when you are betrayed by one.
