Swiftly finding a passage
a poisonous snake
wrapped in the velvety mist
slid up to the temple of my body
gently caressing the heart and mind,
it didn’t hiss
but put everything topsy turvy,
inverted the urn of my breath,
corrupted the flowers
and holy water kept for rituals
to invoke good omens…
It guffawed
at the precarious sight
of the body in bondage
that was in pain
but started relishing it,
I have a life to live
but this is not the way to live...

In desperation,
I lifted my eyes to the open sky
an eagle was hovering
around my head
eyes quickly passed
the message to the snake
that started curling itself up
to descend into the left foot,
but I see that the dormant snake
still lurking around in the shadows
waiting for the eagle
to disperse into thin air…

P.S. We all have both bad and good elements within us. It’s upto us to see which one gets prominence in the life.

What we do in life is what we get back. If we adopt bad elements, we will get bad in life….. beautiful post,Sir KK 💖

Powerful write about the good and evil in all of us. I think most of us strive to be good; it isn’t always easy and we fail, sometimes repeatedly. It’s been said no one is born evil; that may be true but there are too many who aren’t given a chance to be good, almost from birth. That is a travesty. Once again, an inspiring and provocative piece.

I agree with you, Nancy that there are people who are deprived of better chances. I have seen so many instances, but I have experienced that falling prey to evils is so easy and fast that people don’t even realise. This life is too complex, but there are people who cross bridges calmly. Thank you for sharing your beautiful reflections.

Yes, Joanna, dharma should be the way of life. We must do our karma sincerely. The rest will follow. Thanks so much.

I would like to believe that their is a force within that “supervises” the dark/light within. That force being one’s own conscience.
Great thought-provoking piece of writing Kaushal. ✍️

A vivid poem, KK! We don’t like to acknowledge that we are capable of “evil” acts as well as good, but it is better to know ourselves. Your poem is a great reminder that we need to make positive choices. ❤

You’re absolutely right, Chery, the ultimate choice lies with us. The best part is that we know what is good and what is evil. Despite that if we err, it’s our choice. Thank you for sharing your considered views 😊💖

So true, we decide, which side in us we nourish. I am not so sure that I agree with people not getting the opportunity. Everybody gets that. People in all social layers of society can either be more evil or more good, so I wonder what the opportunity in favour of the good would be. Maybe it is thought to be easier for people of safe financial standing, but many of those do not strive for the good, and many poor people are very helpful to their next.

Thank you for reading and sharing your reflections. This world is full of all sorts of people. So what you say is correct. Opportunities are there, but at times, people don’t recognise at right moment and miss grabbing the same.
