Diversions

Whenever
I did something,
I got only one thing
consistency of criticisms,
condemnations and controversies,
people around me
were always eager to advise,
and I never liked their interruptions
that more often than not
distracted me from the path
I had set for myself…

I got broken several times
lost my self-confidence too
heart immersed in the cobweb
of emotions
and mind in the abyss of confusions,
finding reasons and justifications
for diversions and deviations
in those pearls of wisdom,
but in the maze of diversions
I found somehow a way for me
that helped me reach a destination
that was not not sought or thought,
but it’s mine now
and I’m more than satisfied…

I don’t know
if it was the contribution made
by my well-wishers or not,
but looking back I do feel
that they might have been planted
to bring me back every time
from the deviating path
and I kept considering
course corrections as diversions…

  1. How many times I’ve switched boats in mid-stream because of people’s criticism! It was my own lack of confidence and indecision that kept me from finding the right path. After all, what people think of me and my work is not my problem; it’s theirs. As the amazing Lewis Carroll wrote and fabulous George Harrison sang, “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there.” Wonderful post, KK. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    1. Very well said, Nancy, the final decision lies with us, but certain people did come in my life who changed my course, and now I think it happened for my betterment only. The thing is that we get plethora of advices, but which advice or no advice will be better for us, that we have to decide. Thank you for sharing your beautiful reflections.

  2. Very nicely expressed, KK 🙂 It’s true that most of the time we don’t like advice but sometimes it has something important to tell us, that we usually don’t understand/see at that time.. 🙂

      1. What I feel, Saima, is that we should be open to advices. We have to choose one or none as per our own decision. I still follow this, because nowadays management people go for brainstorming, just to generate maximum number of ideas, which are then evaluated to arrive at a possible solution. Thanks for sharing your valuable thoughts.😊
