विडंबना / Irony

मैं ने अपने प्यार को
सहेज कर रखा था सुरक्षित
जीभ की तरह
दांत सरीखे प्रहरियों के बीच..
किंतु उन्हीं दांतों ने
काट लिया जीभ को..

💕💕💕💕💕💕

I had kept my love
safe like a tongue
within the confines
of teeth-like sentinels..
but the same teeth
bit the tongue..

  1. This poignant ditty, Kaushal, reminds me of the saying “biting the hand that feeds you”,
I had a few times experience that I did something good when asked to those I care about but in return, I was treated as a villain.

    1. There is a Hindi saying, “neki kar dariya mein daal.” It means, “Do good, but seek no reward. Do good for the sake of good.”
Similarly there is one more saying in Hindi, “hom karte hath jalna” that means, “Do a good turn and earn a bad name”.
That’s the way of life, Joanna, we have to deal with them. Thank you.

      1. Apologies, Kaushal, I had a few minutes’ loss of grace.
I subscribe to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita:
“A gift is pure when it is given from the heart to the right person at the right time and at the right place, and when you expect nothing in return.”

      वह दुखता ही रहता है क्योंकि उसे है दुखना
