I Smile When…

I smile when a tree adorns
with new leaves and sprouts
forgetting the old agony…

I smile when I notice a bud
developing into a flower
with lots of hopes and expectations…

I smile when an amorous bumblebee
sings love songs to a beautiful flower
and the flower starts swinging
like a ballerina in ecstasy in the air…

I smile when I spot a butterfly
sucking juice of a feeding flower
like an infant…

I smile when I glimpse a bird
chirping something at me
or at the fellow birds in its language
and I keep trying to decode…

I smile when my body gets wet
with the first showers
and I hold my nostrils shut
with the petrichor…

I smile when I read a book
that diagnoses one more disease
of my ignorance…

I smile when my lips get burnt
with a hot cup of tea
while remembering my beloved…

I smile when an orphaned child
gets a home and leads a normal life
like any other child of his age...

I smile when a child comes up
with innocent queries
that I had also asked as a child…

I smile when I see a person
smiling at me or anybody
with or without any reason…

I smile when I don’t see a person

smiling at anybody for any reason
and he too gets infected with smiles…

I find hundreds of reasons to smile
even no reason to smile
also becomes a reason to smile…

Every little smile in this world
touches my heart
and somebody’s heart too…

Let me be a reason for your smile
you be the reason for me to smile
and each one of us be a reason
for someone else to smile back…

Have SMILING days, weeks, months and years ahead!😊😊😊

  1. Your Ode To The Power Of Smile is just so infectious and beautifully told, Kaushal, that we smile with you after the first verse, and by the time we finish, the whole world smiles with us.
Many people noticed the appeal of a smile but here is a lovely quote worth remembering together with your exquisite poem:
“It was only a sunny smile, but like morning light it scattered the night
and made the day worth living .”
    F. Scott Fitzgerald

    1. Thank you, Aahna for your generous praise. I’m just like you, as I follow and read your posts with interest. You too write very well. As regards the first point, that was inspired from the quote that the more you read, the more you know about your ignorance. πŸ˜ŠπŸ€—
