React With No Reaction

A woman boarded a bus and sat down beside a man, hitting him with her oversized bags. The man remained silent. The woman got off after two stops. A co-passenger then asked him why he did not complain, when she was making him uncomfortable with her bags?

The man replied with a smile, “There is no need to be upset about something so trivial, as our trip together is too short. She has already got off and I’m also getting off at the next stop.”

This is not the rocket science, but we fail to understand the simple fact that our time in this world is too short. There is no sense in wasting our precious little time in useless arguments, gossips, grudges, jealousies, discontentments, bad tempers or negative attitudes.

Why should we disturb our own peace by the offensive talk or deed of others? Why should we get stressed if someone betrays you, intimidates you, insults you, cheats or humiliates you? Just forget and forgive; remember, only strong persons can forgive.

It’s our own weakness, if we give in and get manipulated by others. Mahatma Buddha had said,

“When someone insults you, you have to become a receiver, you have to accept what he or she says; only then can you react. But if you don’t accept and remain detached and cool, what can he or she do?”

For every action, there is a reaction, but sometimes it’s better to react with no reaction. No insult or abuse will carry any weight without our own reaction. Whatever may be the situation, it’s our reaction that makes or mars our future.

We all are born by the convictions of nature. We call it life, living or existence, but fail to accept the fact of peaceful coexistence, despite the fact that no one knows the length of his or her trip. No one has seen tomorrow or the next stop.

We wish to do a lot of things in the life, but we don’t get enough time, but time is always there. Nobody can have 25 hours in a day. We don’t notice the ridiculous waste of time and energy.

We spend the whole life in finding out the meaning of life, but fail to recognise the opportunity our life has given to create a meaning.

So let’s choose our path to be as beautiful as we wish it to be. Let’s appreciate family, friends and nature, and get filled with gratitude and joy, as our trip is very short. Let’s share our smiles with everyone around us. 😊😊

  1. This are wise thoughts. I couldn’t help but think this attitude of “React with no Reaction” is needed when it comes to driving. Let’s get rid of road rage! If someone tails you, just move over and let them go by. Don’t let someone else’s poor or rude driving upset the day. Of course, we still have to drive defensively, but we don’t have to be upset.

  2. When I read your post first thing in the morning, Kaushal, I wanted to write that I love and agree with every word you have written. After reading it again now, I am even more impressed
with your universal wisdom. We say often, life is short, and then we behave as if we were to live forever.
Thank you, Kaushal, for presenting and explaining the meaning of life well lived.

  4. My way of thinking. A mistake, bad mood, bad people… There is always a reason fit all that : fear, illness, stress… Ego.. Well we are all the same, we are one. Each time something hurtd you it is often a reflection of our own suffering to open our eyes on them.
Very good love and forgiveness messages in your blog ! Love it ! Go on to open the hearts for higher awareness.

  5. “We spend the whole life in finding out the meaning of life, but fail to recognize the opportunity our life has given to create a meaning.” Profound! If we put into action the wise advice in this post, how much happier our short lives would be. Many of us act out a Greek tragedy, learning from our mistakes only when it is too late to change the course of our lives. ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. You’re so right, Cheryl. We need to go for evaluation and course correction from time to time. Otherwise it will be too late. As it has been said that we should enjoy little happiness, as and when it comes. Thanks a lot for sharing your brilliant thoughts. Greatly appreciated 👍💐💖
