I Miss You, Mom

Eyes get moistened with tears
whenever I miss you, mom…

Making me sleep with dab and hugs
telling stories of kings and queens
taking me to the temple to worship
teaching my lesson in the courtyard

your words still call me
whenever I miss you, mom…

Hiding in her lap after coming from outside
lovingly caressing my head then
applying ointment on injury or sprain
applying vicks whenever got cold

a dab of memories puts me to sleep
whenever I miss you, mom…

When I went out to earn money
she bade farewell with prayers and tears
that was not the era of internet or whatsapp
but request to come was in every letter

today those prayers bring me peace
whenever I miss you, mom…

Getting me married at an auspicious time
telling her daughter-in-law all the ways of house
feeding and playing with her grandkids
teaching sanskars to the new generation

you appear in every corner
whenever I miss you, mom…

From raw oven to stove and gas stove
the same kitchen where she used to cook
making breads first for cows and dogs
then serving hot food to everyone there

that kitchen still showers nectar
whenever I miss you, mom…

Looking at her at the last moments
I kept kissing her cheeks
she used to whisper softly holding my hands
and then for no reason to smile dimly

your smile still fills the house
whenever I miss you, mom…

  1. This was very emotional. I think our mothers will always be our bittersweet weakness. Forever getting strengthened because of them, always missing them when they’re not around. Thank you for sharing this with us. God bless you!🙏

    1. You’re very right, Shruti. My mom left for heavenly abode two years ago, but not a single day passes without remembering her. Her presence is felt every moment. Thank you for reading and commenting. Stay blessed 🙏💐
Incidentally, tomorrow will be celebrated as Mother’s Day in countries like UK, Ireland, Nigeria etc.

  3. This is so very beautiful, she was obviously an amazing and loving woman and mother. No one is ever ready to lose their mother. No one can ever truly replace your mother. When my daughter is hurting it is me she wants to talk to. Even if I haven’t heard from her in a while, she needs her mom. The most wonderful compliment to me as a mother. You must miss her very much. Your piece was written with such great love, you could picture the scenes. Thank you KK, have a blessed Sunday. Hugs and love, Joni

    1. Thank you, Joni for appreciating the piece. I liked your reflections as mother. Mother’s love is the only love which is selfless. She gives a life out of her own life. That’s a fact that must be appreciated, but a mother doesn’t look for appreciation, as you have rightly mentioned. Have a wonderful Sunday 🎉🎉

    1. Thank you, Joanna for your kind feelings about my mother. Never bother for delay. You may comment whenever you like, but please note that without your comment, my post remains incomplete.

    1. You’re a fantabulous person, Cindy! The sentiments of your kids can’t be different from what we have about you. Thank you ❤️💐🍁
