दस्तक / Knock

हसरत थी मेरी
चिलमन से उनके
सिर्फ एक दीदार की…

और वो खड़ी थी
दरवाज़े के साये में
दस्तक के इंतजार में…

🚪 🚪 🚪

My only wish was
to catch a glimpse of her
through the drapery…

while she stood
behind the door
waiting for a knock…

    1. Thank you, VM for your appreciation. My posts are either bilingual or in English so that these may be read and understood by a large section of readers. Secondly, brief ones, because normally people like a quick read. Great that you noticed it.😊

  1. Powerful six lines describing a love story. Wow! Sometimes I wonder how deep poetry communicates in a limited number of words.
Wonderful poem, sir. It has hesitation, love, truthfulness, and emotion.

  2. In some ways this almost sounds like the beginning of something bigger…a short story, an ironic vignette, a one-act play. You set the stage so perfectly…a story about missed chances, star-crossed beginnings, or twists of cruel fate. You always have this innate ability, Kaushal, to hint at so much, in so few words. Bravo!👏🏻🌹🌟
