Today I came across a very nice poem written by a little-known poetess, Nidhi Saxena from Bhopal. This poem has been stated to be written by great literateurs like Mahashweta Devi and Mahadevi Varma in social media. I don’t know who misrepresents and why.
As I liked this poem very much, I give hereunder the original poem in Hindi followed by my English translation:
🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁
Have you come…!
Have you come…!
The door is open, come in…
But stay a while!
On the doormat of the porch…
You flick off your ego…
Honeysuckle has curled
around the mount…
Pour out your anger there…
Leave your mind’s rattles…
In the basil pot…
Hang your busyness…
On the peg itself…
Put off every negativity…
Outside along with shoes…
Bring some childishness
from the kids…
Squealing outside in delight…
The rose pot is full of smiles…
Put on some of them…
Bring all your complications…
Give it to me…
On your weariness…
Let me fan my adulations…
See, I have laid out…
The evening for you…
The sun has got stuck
on the horizon…
and the redness
is sprinkled on the sky…
On the low flame
of love and faith…
Tea is simmering…
Sip it gradually..
Listen…
It’s not so hard to live…!

–Kaushal Kishore
Thank you, Kaushal, for this beautiful poem about living a good life, and how simple it is if you know how to do it. This poem should be on the wall of every primary school. I love in particular
the line about being a little of a child even even when grown up.

Lovely poem, KK. Life is only complicated if we make it so! Love the lines: “Tea is simmering…sip it gradually…Listen…It’s not so hard to live…!” 🙋♂️
