Human Face: An Enigma

A human face
individual’s preface
is the most incredible creation
that can’t be expressed
in words written or spoken…

The expressive eyes complete
the personality statement..
lines, contours, glow,
and shades of complexion,
make it unique to every person,
easily identifiable…

Human faces may have
something with races
or with places..
but some faces are so imprint
in the mind and heart,
that if you try to deface or efface,
they will resurface…

And some faces you can’t recall
may be due to mental firewall,
but the same face
may appear in dream,
graphic and vivid,
with no cover or lid…

A human face,
round, oval or square
receptive or deceptive
inviting or offensive
throws an enigmatic challenge
to know the real import
of its benign demeanor…

  1. How tragic it would be if we lost our ability to recognise someone by their face: their eyes, nose, ears, hair, chin, smile, all recognised instantly! I recently read of someone who had their hippocampus removed and all their memory was lost; if the doctor left the room for five minutes then returned he had to re-introduce himself on each return. Every experience would be new but it would lack any connection! You have a wonderful way of expressing very deep and complicated ideas with simple words. 😊 Have a great weekend 🙋‍♂️

    1. I cherish your sweet comment, Ace. Rhyming here or there is incidental. It’s not my cup of tea. It takes too much time and energy. I believe in free flow. But your soothing words really mean the world to me. Thank you so much 😊💖
