The Corona Lessons

Even after taking second dose of vaccine, nobody is immune, and therefore, covid appropriate behaviour must be followed. This is being announced by the government every now and then, and also at the vaccination centres. But at the same time, all must be vaccinated to get whatever protection is available through vaccine.

Trial and error are still going on. The second dose of Covishield was to be administered initially after 4 weeks, then raised to 6 weeks and finally to 12 weeks to get better protection. And nobody knows how long these vaccines will protect the body from covid, and whether booster doses will also be required and if so, what will be the periodicity.

The fact remains that corona is not going in near term. Its waves will come and go till the herd immunity is achieved. After every wave, during unlock process, people get carefree and enjoy outing without masking and social distancing, thus inviting the next wave. This is happening everywhere across the world, except China, the place of origin.

Corona has not spared anyone right from the garden-goers, sports-lovers, gym enthusiasts, yoga practitioners, doctors to those committed to the ‘Early to Bed Early to Rise‘ routine. Those who got both the doses of vaccines are also not fully immune. And for those who are stll left, danger lurks.

Many people died even without any co-morbidities, while many people with co-morbidities survived, though considered weak and easy target. The reason is not a healthy body with plenty of proteins and vitamins, shaped by regular exercise and  yoga.

The reason is the mind that plays a dominant role, but we tend to ignore it. Those who survived, might have a weak body, but had a strong mind. This may also be one of the reasons behind more deaths in the hospital, where patients had no emotional support.

Being among loved ones in the home environ, even in isolation, strengthens the mind. Weak emotions and wrong thoughts like fear, insecurity, ego, envy, anger, aversion, ambition also release toxins in the mind that affects the whole body covering each and every cell. Most of the diseases are psychosomatic.

Let’s have emotional support from one another during this trying time. This is the time to learn and follow lessons, not teach ones!

  1. This is so true. Even after taking two doses, no one is truly immune. During the unlocked phase, people let down their guards only to be infected. And you’re right – mind matters too. It’s not just about health.

  2. The many lessons learnt from this pandemic can never be fully explored. May more people become more conscious of their safety as we as those of other people and act responsibly.

Well crafted piece, my learned friend. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ’

  3. Well written, solid and clear observations on a difficult topic, my friend. Many lessons from Corona are still waiting to be acknowledged. As you aptly pointed out, supporting each other, without judgement or condition, is the most important. ๐Ÿ•ฏ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒน

  5. i know you are correct in assuming that a one off vaccine course will surfice – I can see it being combined withe the flu shot net year. We are due our second vaccine on 4th July. There is another outbreak in the Eastern Beaches here and we are back to Mandatory Masking again.

    1. I don’t assume one off vaccine course will suffice. I strongly believe that booster doses will also be required in due course.
During unlock process, we start partying leaving aside covid appropriate behaviour, that leads to next wave. Thank you, Andrew for your reading and commenting ๐Ÿ™

    1. You are right, Siva jyothi, it’s responsibility of each one of us to take proper precautions. Thanks for sharing your thoughts โ˜บ๏ธ
