Let Me Remain The Grass

💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

Let me remain the green grass
I don’t want to be huge trees
let their fragrant flowers,
succulent fruits and colorful leaves
do their jobs
let me do my work
in the lap of my mother earth…

my velvety natural beauty is no less
my purple flowers and linear leaves
are no less
I’m full of medicinal properties
involved in worships and rituals
and offered reverently to the deities…

soaked in the dew I provide coolness
to the bare feet of the people
who walk on me
and I feel the warmth till my roots,
that get goosebumps in ecstasy
with root-hairs standing up…

this bliss is the strength of my life,
my inspiration
I’m more than happy
let me remain the green grass…

    1. Yes, we use a particular type of grass, called doob or durva as offerings to gods, especially Ganapati. Thanks a lot, Deb for your quick response and words of appreciation 🙏💐

  1. I have just finished my physio and saw your post. I LOVE GRASS and the green colour. Beautifully written, KK, as all your poems are guided by the DIVINE POWER, otherwise called true TALENT.

    Thank you.

  3. Yes, the grass is so beautiful with its vastness and green. It contains all and feels so good under bare feet. It has many hopping, crawling visitors that pass by our feet. Snakes love to meander along with the blades and small insects they seek.
